Artist talk by Renée Green, awardee of the Finkenwerder Art Prize 2022

Renée Green (*1959) is an internationally renowned artist who has been known for her complex conceptual installations since the early 1990s. On her travels, Renée Green collects experiences, stories, and knowledge in different places and creates a lively connection between them. Spoken and written language—documentary, poetic, fictional—is expressed in textiles, paintings, documents, notes, photographs, books, audio plays, and videos. As a result, meanings become fluid and ideas are questioned. Her works range thematically from music to pop culture, film, literature, site-specificity, architecture, migration, and the legacy of displacement and feminism.
