Artist talk by Frieda Toranzo Jaeger

Artist talk by Frieda Toranzo Jaeger, awardee of the Finkenwerder Art Prize for recent graduates 2022

Frieda Toranzo Jaeger (*1988, MFA 2019 under Prof. Jutta Koether) combines large-scale painting with borrowings from traditional Mexican textile works and performance to explore ideas of hybridity, sexuality, and autonomy. She literally decenters painting and presents it as a faded illusion of authorship and control.
