In her work “Fernweh”, Luísa Telles combines her research-based work on the relationship between man and nature with a personal moment. She took this photograph in August 2019, when she was last in Brazil. Since then she has been cut off from this place and can only travel there and into her memories through images and sounds. Still, photographs are always research material for Telles. She is interested in body position and how small a person looks next to nature. The photography accompanies a field recording from South America, which she acquired online as an album. While this recording is also a form of travel to her memories, this availability of distant places, the promise of a closeness to nature, a transfer also takes place that is inherent in a cultural problem that Telles deals with in her artistic work.
